A project at The Spinney, in Aldermaston Road, next to the site of the former Park Prewett Hospital, would comprised of 122 custom-built homes, including self-builds.  44 plots have been allocated for affordable housing in the development, although Rooksdown Ward councillor Simon Bound believes this 36 per cent figure should be increased to 40 per cent.

The development was chosen by the department for communities and local government (DCLG) to be a custom build pilot site last December.
